1. The type of gasket

There are many kinds of gaskets, according to the structure of the subject material is divided into non-metal, semi-metal and metal gaskets three categories.

(1)Non-metallic gasket: non-metallic gasket soft texture, corrosion resistance, cheap price, but poor temperature and pressure resistance performance. It is used for flange sealing of medium and low pressure vessels or pipelines at normal temperature and medium temperature.

Non-metallic gaskets include rubber gaskets, asbestos gaskets, asbestos rubber gaskets, flexible graphite gaskets and polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets.

(2)semi-metallic gasket (also known as metal-non-metallic composite gasket, or metal composite gasket) : non-metallic materials although has good softness, compressibility and low bolt load capacity advantages. But its main disadvantage is not high strength, poor resilience, not suitable for high pressure and high temperature occasions. Therefore, combined with the characteristics of high strength, good resilience and high temperature of metal materials, the formation of the two combined structure of the gasket, that is, half metal gasket.

Semi-metal gaskets include metal coated gaskets, metal wound gaskets, metal corrugated composite gaskets, metal tooth shaped composite gaskets, etc.

(3)Metal gasket: in high temperature and high pressure and load cycle frequent harsh operating conditions, a variety of metal materials are still the first choice for sealing gasket materials, commonly used materials are copper, aluminum, low carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome-nickel alloy steel, titanium monel alloy, etc. In order to reduce bolt load and ensure compact structure, in addition to the metal flat washer with narrow width as far as possible, various ring washer structures with line contact characteristics are preferred.

Metal gaskets include: flat metal gaskets, corrugated metal gaskets, toothed metal gaskets, metal ring gaskets, metal lens gaskets, metal O-ring gaskets and so on.
